How do you manage a fistful of Pitt pens? I find even six or seven pens mechanically difficult to work with when I’m outside the studio—too much time looking for the gray or size I want, and sketchbook + active pen + others requires three hands. And this is without adding colors… I glimpsed your keeping some in a chest pocket, and in other videos it looked as if you had a little bag. How do you do it? Do you have a core set that you use or do you just pick three or four pens for a drawing? Or do you have a third hand?
I’ve spent hours studying your drawings. Do another West Coast tour soon!
Hey Greg, yep, it’s a bit of a logistical mess at times, but you have to recognize the location I’m working in. If I’m in a cafe, I have a table on which I can stage an arty. I also keep several “go-to” pens in the chest pocket of my vest but, I also have a pen roll that has 9-12 of my most used pens. More difficult is drawing while you’re standing. That’s where the vest pockets, and I specifically like vests with 4 pockets. Plus I’m holding 2-3 in the had holding my sketchbook. In full color drawings, I’m usually seated with a zip bag that can hold 20 larger brush pens and perhaps even a box set that has 48 regular pens. You get more adept and you’ll notice that many of my drawings are monochrome where I may use 4-6 pens. Not so much. You can hold 3-4 pens between your fingers like Wolverines claws, with the caps between your fingers so you just pop ’em out and sick ’em back in. I think I’ve shown my set up a time or two on Face Book if not here, but I’ll post them again soon. Cheers and thanks for checking in.
Hey, really neat, thanks.
This is cool!
Tina
