JOB SUMMARY: Assists with the implementation and coordination of social development and educational enrichment programs sponsored by Pulaski County Youth Services and promotes the community support and involvement of such programs.


 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Solicits corporate and community sponsors for youth activities and programs and donations for fundraisers.

· Assists in the development and implementation of fundraising strategies for programmatic support of youth programming.

· Assists in the research and development of grant funding opportunities for program support including recreational, educational, and career development activities.

· Develops marketing strategies to inform the community of all segments of the Youth Services Department programs including publications, brochure design, media relations, press releases, social media management, etc.

· Conducts public awareness presentations to increase community interest and support departmental programs.

· Develops and coordinates a speakers bureau to market and solicit program and financial support from civic organizations, faith-based organizations, social organizations, and public agencies.

· Identifies potential activities and programs to enhance the social and educational development of participating youth.

· Plans, schedules, and organizes educational and virtual programs for community youth.

 

· Supervises seasonal and volunteer staff involved with program implementation.

· Assists with the production of departmental email blasts addressing current events and program goals and achievements of participating youth; distributes to staff, businesses, organizations, and individuals in the community.

· Completes reports reflecting program participation and results.

· Assists with the organization and coordination of special programs offered by Pulaski County Youth Services such as Out of School Time, Public Service Internship, Youth Leadership, ACT preparation, etc.

· Serves as a liaison between Youth Services and curriculum partners to address academic loss due to COVID-19 in Pulaski County Out of School Time and other County provided programs.


 

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Performs other related duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a smoking-restricted office environment with occasional visits to outside agencies and at departmental activities and functions.


 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

o Good knowledge of the theory and principles of, stages of, and influences upon juvenile development.

o Some knowledge of methods and techniques of marketing and fundraising.

o Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Publisher.

o Ability to establish and maintain detailed scheduling and recordkeeping systems.

 

o Ability to organize and coordinate activities involving groups of people.

o Ability to organize and prepare statistical and narrative reports.

o Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

o Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with volunteers, community members, outside agencies, participating youth, Pulaski County employees, and the general public.

o Ability to attend work regularly and reliably.

o Skill in the operation of a computer.


 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

o Visual acuity is necessary for use of the computer screen.

o Digital dexterity is needed for keyboard operation.

o Ability to communicate orally in person and by telephone.


 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Completion of a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field; considerable experience in social program administration, business administration, public relations, or a related area; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.


 

Requirements

· Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check, child maltreatment check, and adult maltreatment check.

· The criminal background, child maltreatment, and adult maltreatment checks will also be conducted annually.

· Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
