Job Description

Job Title: Computer Technician 2 Reports to: Director of Technology Pay Grade: Paraprofessional - PG 6 Dept./Campus: Assigned Campus Wage Status: Non-Exempt Days: 240 Primary Purpose: The Computer Technician installs, repairs, and maintains district computers and related equipment. Qualifications: Education: Associates Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required Bachelor's Degree preferred Special Knowledge/Skills: Experienced with the full family of Windows operating systems. Experience installing and supporting variety of software, Microsoft Office, Adobe Experience with various browsers for use with internet-based software Experience management of Active Directory users Experience with a wide range of AV equipment Must be able to communicate and work well with school staff. Must be able to work well with students with special needs. Must be self-motivated and work well without direct supervision. Must be able to multitask and possess good time management skills. Must be able to work well with others in a team environment. Must have a valid current Texas driver's license and an acceptable driving record Experience: Previous computer system assembly, configuration, and repair experience desired A minimum of 6 months of successful, verifiable work experience in the field of computer installation and support or equivalent education. A+ certification preferred. Essential Job Functions: Support and manage and maintain all Special Education technology equipment, i.e. desktops, laptops, and printers. Support all Special Education Staff as needed. Manage and maintain Special Education Inventory Perform annual cleaning and preventive maintenance of all district computer equipment. Maintain duties assigned thru the work order system Utilize a wide range of remote management technologies and imaging software Manage Active Directory users Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for this position. Professional Conduct: Demonstrate the ability to remain calm and withstand pressures Demonstrate flexibility to change in routine and adapt quickly to changing situations Supervisory Responsibilities: None Equipment used: Laptops, computers, printers, scanners, docking stations, mobile devices, document cameras, red cat audio systems and displays Physical Demands /Mental Demands/ Environmental Factors: The working conditions described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Regularly sit, talk or hear; frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; frequent repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer; occasionally lift and/or move up to 10-50 pounds; occasionally required to stand, walk reach with hands and arms; vision abilities include close vision; and color vision, regularly work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress; the noise level is usually moderate. Some weekends and evening hours may be required. Work environment includes typical computer related noise levels and paper and equipment generated dust. Exposure to video display terminals occurs on a regular basis. Incumbent is on call to provide support services during off hours. Periodically scheduled night and weekend work is required. Learned physical skill is required for keyboarding and use of peripheral equipment. Employees carry out system and network administration functions independently, with a sound understanding of the interactions between hardware, operating system software and network operations and the design and administrative requirements to ensure an efficient, reliable, secure infrastructure. The employee is expected to bring projects to conclusion, including development of operating procedures, instruction and training, and required documentation. Work is performed and technical decisions made with some latitude for independent judgment. Regularly perform multiple, highly complex tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions and compliance with legal guideline.
