Description of Job Function:1. Circulates materials by issuing borrowers cards, charging and discharging items, using an automated circulation system.
Description of Job Function:2. Receives, processes, and maintains the librarys serials collection. Processes materials for bindery which may require lifting, carrying, and pulling/pushing book carts.
Description of Job Function:3. Assists in the training, supervision, and evaluation of student assistant assignments.
Description of Job Function:4. Assists in guiding workflow and supervising Staff library assistants.
Description of Job Function:5. Assists in the processing of intra campus loans and interlibrary loans.
Description of Job Function:6. Assists in the processing and maintenance of reserve materials for faculty and students.

Required Minimum Education:High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Preferred Type of Experience:Library experience.
Experience using computers and related software. Database, data entry, and mainframe experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of circulation procedures, automated library circulation systems, reserve material preparation and handling, and the fundamentals of information service in a library.
Ability to provide strong customer service, make appropriate referrals, and effectively interpret and explain Learning Resources Center/library policies/procedures to faculty, staff, students, and community. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, and work effectively without direct supervision. Ability to access file cabinets and bookshelves. Ability to lift and carry up to 44 pounds. Ability to operate office machines and library equipment. General Working Conditions:This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-15 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to frequently using discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
