SUMMARY:

This position serves to assist with the organization, operation and supervision of all sport science aspects of all WU Warrior Teams within the parameters designated by the university, the California Pacific Conference and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). This position reports to the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Science as well as the Dean of Athletics. Responsibilities include effectively assisting in the running of all aspects of the operations of the strength and conditioning program at WU. Position includes but is not limited to: Running strength and conditioning sessions with teams, preparing daily sessions, travel to different locations, and filing individual assessments of student athletes progress. The position will also require administrative duties as needed.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

· Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

· Strong skills, knowledge, and experience in all areas of sport science.

· Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.

· Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

· Ability to use independent judgment and to gather, manage and impart information to the media and various other internal and external audiences.

· Ability to make procedural decisions.

· Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials and social media content.

· Ability to organize, prioritize, and schedule work assignments.

· Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.

· Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.

· Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assisting in the daily operations of the sport science department.
2. Effectively manage travel arrangements for different workouts for teams: weight room, beach, at facility sites, etc.
3. Develop, implement and manage programs for individual teams.
4. Assist coaches with recommendations towards strength and conditioning sessions.
5. Assist coaches with camps, clinics, community involvement etc.. as assigned.
6. Assist with providing information to representatives internally to demonstrate the growth and development of athletes.
7. Scheduling teams effectively and efficiently for Sport Science workouts.
8. Assist with student communication with coaching staff and other University Departments
9. Create weight room schedules, training plans, workout coordination, etc.
10. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree, equivalent experience, or Westcliff Athletics Career Pathway

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

As Westcliff Athletics is still growing, the university currently practices and hosts competitions at off-campus locations. Local travel may be required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work is demanding physically. Lifting upwards of 100 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects. Medium strength is required to set up the necessary items. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• Applicants must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license in order to travel to and from practices and home competitions.
