The California Department of Insurance (CDI) is seeking a dynamic Information Technology Specialist I with experience in Power BI and Sharepoint, including designing, developing and maintaining these systems.

This role is responsible for providing strategic leadership and expertise in the design and implementation of business intelligence and collaboration solutions, including Power BI reporting, SharePoint workflows, and data architecture. The incumbent will apply advanced technical knowledge in data modeling, reporting solutions, and SharePoint integration to support the department's goals.

Working Conditions

  • The incumbent must be able to work in a high-rise building. 
  • Eligible for telework in accordance with CDIs Telework policy. Teleworking employees may be required to report to their headquarters office location on designated telework days. Travel expenses are not reimbursed, however other authorized transit subsidies do exist for those who qualify.
  • Must be able to transport documents and/or equipment up to 15-20 lbs., i.e. laptop computer, files, reference manuals, solicitation documents, etc.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • 5 years of Power BI experience, including designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence (BI)  solutions
  • 5 years of SharePoint online experience, including designing, customizing, and maintaining SharePoint environments
