Job Title: Power Quantitative Analyst

Location: Houston, Texas/ Greenwich, Connecticut

Salary expectations: $250k+

A leading multi-strategy fund in the energy trading sector, known best for their Gas and Power businesses across paper and physical trading is seeking a highly skilled Quantitative Analyst to sit on their Power desk. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with the Head of Power Trading to leverage both market data and alternative datasets to identify and validate trading ideas, uncover actionable market signals, and play a key role in shaping their trading strategy. This is a unique opportunity for someone passionate about commodities, with strong analytical capabilities and a desire to grow within a dynamic trading environment. The role offers a clear development path, with successful candidates gradually taking on more responsibility, and ultimately working towards a leadership or risk taking position.

Your role:

  • Develop and maintain quantitative models for electricity price forecasting, load/demand prediction, and power generation (including renewables like wind and solar)
  • Support real-time and day-ahead power trading desks by providing actionable forecasts, analytics, and custom tools
  • Apply machine learning techniques to improve forecasting accuracy and identify patterns in market behavior
  • Work closely with traders, risk managers, and system operators to align models and insights with commercial objectives and regulatory constraints
  • Stay updated on energy market rules and regulatory changes, particularly in U.S. markets like PJM, ERCOT, CAISO, and NYISO

Experience/skills required:

  • Must have a quantitative background with a Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or Engineering.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in the North American Power market, either within the industry or in an advisory role. Experience with other energy commodities is also a plus.
  • High GPA/ 1st Class Hons degree.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of financial modeling, specifically using Python.
  • Proven track record of meeting challenging objectives.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
